Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a complete and holistic system of medicine that considers the mind/body connection central to the causes and healing of disease. It treats the whole person and not just the disease and has a remarkably effective success in restoring health and vitality. Homeopathy uses a range of medicines that are taken from a vast source of materials. Remedies are made from plants, minerals, metals, animals and various other substances that are then highly diluted and given mainly in tablet form with the aim of triggering the body’s own healing mechanisms.
A homeopath will prescribe medicines according to the patient’s specific set of symptoms, and how they experience them, taking into account their overall level of health.
Homeopathy is based on the principle of “like cures like” – that is, a substance, which can cause symptoms when taken in large doses, can be used in small amounts to treat similar symptoms. For example, drinking too much coffee can cause sleeplessness and agitation, so according to this principle, when coffee is made into a homeopathic medicine, it could be used to treat people suffering from sleeplessness and agitation.
Nutrition
Nutritional therapy is the practice of using healthy foods, supplements and a balanced diet, designed to benefit an individual’s health requirements and help them move forward towards an improved physical and emotional state of being. Nutrition looks at the effect that various foods, micronutrients, minerals and vitamins have on the body and how these can assist in maintaining a balanced equilibrium and good health. Nutrients provide nourishment for the body: proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, fibre and water are all nutrients. These need to be in the right balance and correct proportions in a nutritious diet to help prevent disease. Good nutrition and a balanced diet can help prevent diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, adrenal fatigue, and diabetes by tailoring the correct nutritional requirements to the individual. The gut microbiome is now proved to be of vital importance to overall health as well as emotional wellbeing. The bacteria in the microbiome help digest our food and especially fibre which the body can’t digest on its own. It helps regulate our immune system, protect against other bacteria that cause disease, and produce vitamins including B vitamins, as well as many other functions. The microbiome of a healthy person will provide protection from pathogenic organisms that enter our body.Personal Development
Several factors affect a person’s health and well-being. These include mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, social, and environmental influences. It is the integration of these aspects of life that lead to healthy choices in our daily routines and therefore enable a happier state of being.
All these areas influence a person’s health so by reflecting on and changing personal behaviour patterns and poor lifestyle choices an improved state of health and happiness can be attained. This is how health and life coaching works: by helping the clients to align with a more empowered and positive life style.
